Recalls are a well-established global practice; from time to time they are announced by almost all manufacturers of not only cars, but also any other industrial products. But since a car is considered a source of increased danger, it is recalls in the automotive industry that attract the most attention and cause the greatest resonance. Check if your car is covered by a recall campaign. Sometimes manufacturers will recall their cars because of substandard parts or workmanship and repair them for free, regardless of the warranty. This is called a recall campaign. More information on 1997 BMW M3 recalls can be found in this database. It may be useful to use online problems resource that shows automotive defect patterns, based on complaint data submitted by vehicle owners. The problems are organized into groups with data published by vehicle, component, and specific issue. See also an updated list of 1997 BMW M3 problems before buying a used car. In most cases, the recall is initiated by the manufacturer. But it also happens that it is forced to do so. The largest and most scandalous recall campaigns were those that were initiated by complaints and lawsuits from consumers through controlling state structures.

Additional Description: This rare '97 BMW M3 coupe in Boston Green with Modena Natur Nappa Leather 'Vader' sport seats is a special example of an M3 that was driven enough (but never too hard), and the ride demonstrates as much. Powered by a 3.2L inline six paired with a five speed manual transmission, she rides on the 17'' Style 24 wheels with new Michelin Pilot Sport tires (a second set of factory 17'' Style 22 wheels are included with mounted tires in good condition). Previous owner replaced front left strut and mount, as well as the AC unit (which now blows ice cold), and the cigarette lighter, and we mounted new tires on the wheels pictured and replaced the rear brake switch. Instead of doing paint work on this vehicle, we left it in it's natural state, so there are rock chips on the front end/hood of the vehicle, and the leather in the front seats has dried out which has led to discoloration and hardening. The gear shift knob shows wear on the plastic casing above the 'M3' logo, but the knob/boot are in good condition. We've installed clear corner/marker lamps, however we still have the orange corner/marker lamps which will also come with the vehicle. This vehicle does not come with floor mats, however she is a dream to drive, and our owner will be very sad to see her sold!
